Veterinary Treatments Provided To Our Oriental Shorthair Kittens We vaccinate our Oriental shorthair kittens for sale two to three times before they leave our home. Kittens are usually vaccinated starting at 6 weeks old with a feline distemper vaccine (3-way). Vaccines are repeated at 9 weeks and then at 12 weeks. They are de-wormed prior to leaving not just for parasites but for protozoa control too. They are microchipped at 9-12 weeks old and have their first veterinary health examination at about 12 weeks of age. As a professional Oriental Shorthair breeder, I believe that we breeders have a social and community responsibility to not add to pet overpopulation by spaying & neutering our kittens or by contractually requiring spaying and neutering of all kittens. Our kittens will leave altered (spayed/neutered) by 9 weeks of age and will leave us at 12 weeks old.
We were awarded the prestigious TICA Bred with H.E.A.R.T Program Certificate for compliance with recommended health testing.

I was early in life enamored with these lovely and charming oriental shorthair cats.My oriental shorthair cats got elderly and passed away as adults. The loss of these devoted friends and companions crushed me. I was saddened to discover that wedge-headed oriental shorthairs, which are now the new designer variety, were the only vintage oriental shorthair cats I could find to bring back into my life. It took me a whole year to locate a traditional kitty. During that period, I made the decision that I could never live without these vintage oriental shorthair cats that have captured my heart. As a result, I started a breeding business to protect these uncommon and magnificent oriental shorthair kittens.

"At Bellerin Oriental Cattery, we adhere to the highest ethical standards. Our breeding program includes health testing and responsible breeding techniques to ensure healthy and triangular wedge shape oriental shorthair kittens."
Our mission is to breed oriental shorthair of exceptional quality, upholding breed standards while prioritizing their health, temperament, and overall well-being.We are committed to practicing responsible breeding techniques, including thorough health screenings, genetic testing, and responsible pairing, to ensure the long-term vitality of the oriental shorthair breed. We strive to provide education and support to our kitten owners, empowering them with knowledge and resources to raise happy, healthy, and well-socialized oriental shorthair.
Various elements influence the cost of purebred Oriental shorthair cats and the operation of a small cattery. Responsible breeders invest a significant amount of money into their breeding programs. This is typically not a lucrative endeavor. Just so you know, many breeders nowadays are blending various breeds, which concerns me that the original Oriental shorthair breed might be lost. We are making every effort to ensure the purebred Oriental shorthair continues to flourish. A responsible breeder typically invests $1,400 or more on the breeding cats they acquire to ensure they obtain an Oriental shorthair cat from a reputable lineage with registration documents and breeding privileges. Not every breeder turns out well for various reasons, and not all supposedly reputable catteries will guarantee or replace a breeder that fails. I discovered this the hard way, losing thousands of dollars. We continuously update and enhance the program. Costly high-end cat food, both wet and dry, when pregnant and nursing queens consume 2 to 3 times the usual amount; supplements; large quantities of litter; scratching posts; cat condos; toys; and veterinary expenses for a full cattery accumulate rapidly. Additionally, there are expenses for advertising, cattery registration, and the registration of each individual Oriental shorthair kitten/cat and litter, along with website maintenance.
Time spent socializing a kitten
In almost every litter, there is at least one kitten who, during its 9/12 weeks with the breeder, needs veterinary care because of an umbilical infection, failure to thrive properly, getting poked in the eye, falling off a table awkwardly, acquiring an upper respiratory infection, developing a slight eye infection as its eyes begin to open, being born with a minor birth defect, having an unexplained limp, ingesting a foreign object, or various other potential issues. Kittens resemble tiny human kids. They possess a knack for finding themselves in trouble or catching illnesses. Veterinary expenses usually range from an $85 examination to, err on the side of caution, $800 for emergency surgery or treatment on off hours.
Our Oriental Shorthair adult cats have full panel blood work and yearly vet wellness checks done before breeding them. Breeders also face unexpected vet bills such as emergency C- sections, pyometra, etc. As your Oriental shorthair cats age there are more expenses, teeth cleaning, basic maintenance costs. Most people are not prepared to house an ‘intact’ male that sprays and must then build special accommodations for him, or even more than one male, which can add up to a considerable expense. We made a commitment to be there for our Oriental shorthair cats & kittens, so this means missing family functions once in a while. Vacations???? What are those? Oriental shorthair are very energetic
Our oriental shorthair kittens for sale are loose in our house and hand-raised as family members, to be friendly and affectionate companions, unafraid of children or the activity of a household. Their personalities range from lap cats to clowns but are usually a charming combination of both.

quality and We try to find the best possible families for our oriental shorthair kittens. We pay attention to our breeding quality, choose our breeders in order to improve the lines and produce oriental shorthair kittens to the requirements of the breed standard.
We also have kittens who are hypoallergenic. This means that if you or anyone among your family or your friends has cat allergies, they should be able to be around one of our hypoallergenic kittens and not react. No destructive, neurotic or cross-eyed cats are ever used for breeding. We breed only the best of the best, which are cats that have never been ill, have naturally outgoing, calm, and highly intelligent personalities, and are beautiful. We mention beauty last because we believe that the most important trait for a companion cat is personality. It is wonderful to have a beautiful cat, but far more important to have a fabulous friend. Our goal is to match you with the kitten that suits you best.

Ensuring the well-being and happiness of our Oriental shorthair kittens for sale is of utmost importance to us. We handle our Oriental shorthair kittens with great care and affection on a daily basis. Our children engage and play with the kittens, making it essential for us that they leave with healthy and well-adjusted temperaments. We prioritize the health and longevity of our Oriental shorthair kittens. We provide a 9-day health guarantee, which stipulates that the kitten must be taken to a licensed veterinarian of the buyer's choice within the first 9 days following the purchase. Should the veterinarian identify a genetic, congenital, or hereditary defect, the Oriental shorthair kitten may be returned for a full refund of the pet price. Beyond the initial 9 days, we offer a one-year limited guarantee, as well as extended guarantees of 2, 3, or 4 years that cover hereditary, congenital, and genetic defects. These extended guarantees are contingent upon the kitten(s) being maintained on the NuVet Plus vitamin program for the duration of the selected extended guarantee. In the unfortunate event that a kitten dies due to a genetic, hereditary, or congenital defect within the health guarantee period, we will provide a one-time replacement of the kitten (terms and conditions apply), for ¥: the original purchase price of the kitten (same breed only). No monetary refunds, nor refunds for veterinary, professional, or travel expenses will be issued at any time, unless an exception is made. This is why we consider vitamin supplementation (NuVet Plus) and proper nutrition to be crucial for our kittens' immune health and development. All of our kittens are sold “Flea Free”.
No, we do not sell nor have interest in selling kittens for breeding purposes. All our kittens leave our home with an altering (spayed or neutered) agreement PERIOD. The reason for this is that we do not want to contribute to the irresponsible breeding of cats. There are enough kittens/cats in animal shelters. We have also found that not all breeders are created equal and we are very strict as to who gets our breeding lines. We would like to keep our lines pure, as well as genetically diversified and giving our breeding lines to others carries the risk of lines concentrating, inbreeding and future genetic problems to the breed as a whole. We have seen this occur in the past and the effect in lack of new breeding stock for the future, which can be very detrimental to the breed. We also do not feel it is fair to "pass on" breeding stock to irresponsible breeders that just care in producing kittens without contributing to the breed positively. There could be exceptions to this rule depending on our present breeding program but we feel it is best to enforce it for the sake of the breed and to avoid problems with other “breeders” of cats. Please keep in mind that cats with "breeder rights" are not pet priced due to the seriousness and granted rights to breed them and at times can be up to 2x-3x the regular pet price.
